THIS IS A BETA RELEASE (There may be bugs.)
We will update V9.xx as we add features and fix bugs.
Although possible, there are not likely to be bugs in basic GPS data collection. The bugs are probably in more advanced features.
(Example: there may be a bug with Picklist...Default Value...  This is a new feature
that allows the Default Value of an Attribute to be defined in your Template File's Picklist.)
Please report other bugs you find. HGIS V9 has entirely new Microsoft Libraries from HGIS V8.
As a result, the new Microsoft Libraries only support Windows Mobile 4.1 and later.
Show Start Menu..., Template Picklist..., Object Attributes..., and Help Topics... work completely different with the new libraries.
GPS Backtrack... is another new feature. Try it and comment.
User Profile = "Simple" is new, simpler, and replaces old User Profile = "Just Starting Out"
Your comments are appreciated.

Programmer HGIS DLL API For C++ Programmers Only:
HGIS V9 and above allows you to replace the following menus in HGIS: Template...Picklist... and Map...Object Attributes... with your own custom DLL. You can create Custom Forms to fill out, edit, or display Object Attributes, search map layers for data, change map layer data, draw graphs, create  new GPS Points, create Hierarchical, Relational, or Custom Picklists, add new Picklist Editors, and more...

HGIS supports 3 custom DLLs plus the default DLL.  Each DLL could support a different layer definition. You could add one DLL to handle weed layers, another handle insect layers, another to display graphs, etc.

Download the DLL Application Programming Interface (API).  This module includes the complete default DLL for these functions to be used as a programming example.  Compile your DLL with Visual Studio 2005 with Windows Server 2003 R2, and Pocket PC 2003 2nd Edition.  Your DLL will run on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows Mobile 4.1 - 6.1 (possibly later), and future version of HGIS.

Please contact us for the download link.  Prepaid support for custom DLL development is also available.

Thank Dr. Barron Orr, University of Arizona for this feature.
